Bio
Tyler Melchior is an alumnus of The University of the Arts and Temple University. In addition to his work at 1812 Productions and the Rosenbach Museum & Library, he has done promotional, consulting, and graphic design work for The Soundtrack Series, Madhouse Theater Company, Partners for Sacred Places, and Montgomery Theater, among others, and has been a guest speaker on the topics of marketing and public relations for The Philadelphia Higher Education Network for Neighborhood Development, Temple University, and The Independence Foundation.
Tyler is a member of The Accessibility Cohort, a group of more than a dozen arts professionals representing organizations in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware working to improve accessibility services at arts institutions. He is a co-creator and co-facilitator of Crowdsourcing Strategies for Increased Accessibility (CSIA), a professional workshop that mines collective experiences in accessibility planning to grow the arts community's knowledge base and support networks. He is also a co-creator and co-facilitator of the Audio Description Learning Network (ADLN), an initiative funded by Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, whose mission is to expand training in the practice of audio description among Queer, non-binary, and BIPOC communities—individuals who are increasingly represented on area stages but under-represented among audio describers. The ADLN was the proud recipient of a 2024 Audio Description Project Award for excellence in the field from the American Council of the Blind.
Over the past several years, Tyler has enjoyed partnering with Art-Reach (Philadelphia), Hello Arts Collective, and a wonderful community of representatives in advancing the Philadelphia arts and culture community's accessibility planning and infrastructure. He lives in Philadelphia with his husband.
